About
Tim Forbus
I was born in 1961 on Craig
AFB in Selma, Alabama. My dad
was in the Air Force so we moved from state to state until he got
orders to Alaska in 1969. As a young boy of 8 years, Alaska was just
right. I saw my first dog race at the Fur Rendezvous and later when
the Iditarod was started. I became fascinated with the dog mushing
and the Iditarod. I had to leave Alaska in 1975, to the great dismay
of my brother and I. I followed the Iditarod on ABC Wide World of
Sports and watched as Rick Swenson and Susan Butcher battled it out.
I was able to visit Alaska many times after 1975, but vowed I would
be back. On September 7th, 1995 at 4:00 am I made that dream come
true and crossed the border into Alaska with everything I owned in
a 4 x 8 U - Haul. I was on the path of making my dream
of running the Iditarod a reality.
I started with
a few puppies and later with my first litter of puppies from Martin
Busers lead dog Fearless. I now own and operate a 54-dog kennel,
Snowbound Kennels, in Chugiak, Alaska and would like to enter the
Iditarod race sometime in the future.
Wish me luck,
happy trails....
